The Warriors are hiring Terry Stotts in Steve Kerr's coaching staff

This year’s free agency has not turned out well for the Golden State Warriors. First, the team parted ways with their long-time player Klay Thompson, then the organization waived Chris Paul. To make matters worse, the team also lost the chance to sign Paul George. But the Warriors are certainly not out of plans as they are boosting their coaching staff.

The Warriors veteran head coach Steve Kerr is considered one of the best coaches in NBA history. To increase his support the team is planning to hire two more coaches, Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse. Stotts will play the role of lead assistant coach as Stackhouse will be an assistant as per ESPN’s insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hiring Stotts would certainly be beneficiary as he has nine years of head coaching experience with the Portland Trailblazers. That is not all, as Stotts also has a ton of assistant coaching experience as well to help Kerr. The coach has worked with the Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks and the Dallas Mavericks during their championship season.

Stotts will replace Kenny Atkinson who has left the Warriors for the Cleveland Cavaliers head coaching job. Hence, it is a good time for the team to get Kerr some help as the coach has been in hot waters with the fans for his coaching in the past couple of seasons.

Terry Stotts rejected the Lakers for the third time to work with the Warriors

Along with the Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers are also trying to build up their coaching unit. But the team has been struggling as Dan Hurley rejected the head coaching job to stay at UConn. Then, JJ Redick was hired for the role and the team also wanted their former player Rajon Rando as the assistant.

However, after finding some success, the team was rejected by Stotts yet again. Previously both during Frank Vogel and Darvin Ham’s time, the Lakers offered the assistant coach job to Stotts but the coach refused the position. Lakers’ insider Anthony F. Irwin wrote about the team’s history with Stotts in his Friday report.

Stotts was offered a job on both Frank Vogel’s and Darvin Ham’s coaching staffs, sources say, but rebuffed the Lakers on both occasions. Pelinka may try again, but it seems fairly unlikely Stotts would consider the third time a charm.

The news sent the internet into a frenzy as the team was rejected again by a coach after losing Klay Thompson. It seems like the Lakers’ recruiting plans may not be as successful as the team hopes. But some of the new additions are certainly interesting and may help in the team’s success.
