The Washington Commanders (3-3) visit the struggling Dallas Cowboys (2-3-1) on Sunday evening in a crucial divisional game. The game, streamed by FOX, will be held at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at the scheduled time of 4:25 p.m.
The Commanders would be looking forward to bouncing back from their setback against the Chicago Bears. The Bears stunned last season’s conference finalist in the last minutes in a yet again thrilling affair between the two. Almost a year after the Hail Maryland, when Jayden Daniels clinched a sensational win in Maryland, the Commanders were set to have a repeat of that performance. But, as it turned out, Caleb Williams and debutant Jake Moody spoiled their party.
The Commanders haven’t been as formidable as they were last season. While they are second in the NFC East, they are still far behind in the conference rankings and are currently 12th, just behind the Carolina Panthers. In an increasingly competitive year, the Commanders must put in a strong effort to secure a place in the final seven.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys are third in the division and rapidly losing ground to the resurgent New York Giants. They are thirteenth in the conference, ahead of the Giants (2-4), the Arizona Cardinals (2-4), and the New Orleans Saints (1-5). Meeting the Commanders for the 131st game, the Cowboys will hope to extend their winning record against them. The two teams shared the series last year, the Cowboys winning the first of the two.

Why can the Washington Commanders win?
The second year in Washington has not been as peaceful as the first year. Nonetheless, Jayden Daniels remains one of the NFL’s most dynamic young quarterbacks. His mobility can exploit Dallas’s struggling defense, especially with their issues containing mobile QBs and broken plays.
On that note, it should also be brought to attention that the Cowboys rank 32nd in total defense. They are gaining some advantage with returning playmaker, Terry McLaurin.
Dan Quinn’s previous stint as a defensive coordinator in Dallas also adds another advantage to the Commanders. He has an idea of what Dak Prescott is capable of, the offensive personnel, and Dallas’s in-game adjustments better than most opposing coaches.
The Commanders are -3 in turnover differential but have been close on several plays. If the defense capitalizes on even one or two takeaways, it could change the momentum against a Cowboys team that’s been struggling to finish drives.
Why can the Dallas Cowboys win?
Dak Prescott has 11 total touchdowns and zero turnovers this season, playing some of the cleanest football of his career. If he continues at this pace, Dallas will always have a chance to outscore opponents, regardless of defensive struggles.

He has also been quite efficient in quick decision-making, which has made Dallas one of the more reliable red zone teams this season. The Cowboys will be looking forward to converting them into touchdowns. They are also getting reinforcements in CeeDee Lamb and Tyler Booker, back to bolster both the passing game and protection. That could help neutralize Washington’s pass rush and give Prescott time to exploit mismatches downfield.
