Rafael Nadal, 20 time Grandslam champion is arguably one of the greatest players of our generation. The Spaniard’s passion, dedication to the game is what makes him the stand out from the crowd. In a new Twitter video posted by the ATP, a younger Rafael Nadal is seen to be having the same footwork and a double-handed backhand as his current self.
The caption of the video reads “Some things never change.” Rafael Nadal has put in unmeasurable amount of time in his training right from the moment he started playing tennis, alongside his uncle and former coach, Toni Nadal. His footwork and shot making when he was younger was just a trailer of what was about to follow. He may have had 20 Grandslams to his name, but the Spaniard never forgets what he has learnt during his younger days, and strives to learn more things everyday in practice.

Rafael Nadal has landed in Australia to compete at the Australian Open and aim for his second title at the Melbourne Park. The Spaniard’s only triumph in Melbourne came in 2009 when he defeated Roger Federer in a five-set thriller. Since then, Nadal has lost four Australian Open finals, the last one against Novak Djokovic in 2019.
Rafael Nadal arrives in Australia without his coach, Carlos Moya who has decided to skip the event owing to the travel restrictions. Nadal along with Djokovic, Thiem, top three ranked women’s players and Serena Williams will quarantine in an exclusive Adelaide bubble for 14 days. The players quarantining in Adelaide are scheduled to play an exhibition even on January 29.
The Australian Open 2021 commences on February 8. Rafael Nadal will open his 2021 campaign at the ATP Cup, which is to be held at the Melbourne Park from February 1-5.
