Alex de Minaur was limping after his fourth-round win over Arthur Fils at the Wimbledon match he played on Monday (July 8). If he hurt his knee or an ankle, there is a possibility of him withdrawing before the quarterfinal clash with Novak Djokovic.
The Aussie ninth seed received a walkover from Lucas Pouille in the third round and struggled a bit against Fils in the third set, though he eventually came on top with scores of 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. After the last rally of the match, when De Minaur hit the winning shot, he seemed to be in discomfort and did not celebrate.

De Minaur shook his head when he turned toward his box, probably thinking of the consequence of the small injury. Fans started assuming that he probably had twisted his ankle.
The 25-year-old Aussie advanced to his first Wimbledon quarterfinals but if he pulls himself out of it, the 24-time Grand Slam champion will receive a walkover for another Wimbledon semifinal appearance.
Alex de Minaur insists he will be alright for the quarterfinals
Alex de Minaur admitted later during his on-court interview that he dealt with some issues, but he vows to be ready for his first Wimbledon quarterfinal appearance. The match against Novak Djokovic will be the Aussie’s third quarterfinal in a major event, having reached the French Open and the US Open last eight in 2024 and 2020.

I'll be alright. I'm super proud to play in front of you guys. I had a few problems getting over the finish line which made it harder than it should have been. Great job mentally to stay with it, even though I couldn't serve in the end, couldn't hold my serve. I just returned my return, so very happy about that.Alex de Minaur said after the match
De Minaur, who has won nine career titles, has met Djokovic three times on the ATP Tour and won one match in the 2024 United Cup quarterfinals. They will meet for the first time on a grass court.
Djokovic reached the last eight of Wimbledon after a dominating win over Denmark’s Holger Rune in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. The highlight of the match was about the Serb complaining about the crowd’s ‘disrespectful’ behavior and his antics- be it mocking the crowd, his heated speech, or his violin celebration for his daughter Tara.
