Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry returned to court on Friday night after missing the last five games due to a quad injury he suffered against the Houston Rockets. But it was not the comeback he would have hoped for as the Minnesota Timberwolves edged out the Warriors by 127-120 at the Chase Center.
Stephen Curry did not seem to show any rustiness on his return to action as he scored a game-high 39 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists. The Warriors led 91-88 heading into the fourth quarter, but struggled to make defensive stops in the final quarter, an issue they have faced several times this season.
WNBA star Caitlin Clark is back to court after five months following an injury-filled season with the Indiana Fever. She made her USA Basketball senior team debut and showed flashes of brilliance as she works her way into top condition.
Curry is well known for entertaining the fans with his pregame shooting drills. Before the 37-year-old took to the court on Friday, he shocked everyone when he attempted a full-court tunnel shot and swished it, leading to some loud cheers from the crowd.
The highly-rated 23-year-old was in disbelief after seeing the video of the shot on social media. She tweeted:
This has to be AI.

While things did not go in favor of the Warriors on Curry’s comeback, his return is still a much-needed boost for the Warriors’ offence. The four-time NBA champion is averaging 28.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists this campaign.
Golden State Warriors’ struggle against size
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has always been a fan of the small ball to spread the opposition’s defense and rely on the team’s strength, which is three-point shooting. While it has worked for the Warriors during their championship runs, the lack of size is proving to be an issue against big teams like the Wolves.
They are the shortest team in the league and it was evident on Friday night against the likes of Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels. The three big men combined to score 68 points in a game without their star player, Anthony Edwards.
With Jonathan Kuminga‘s future uncertain as he was a DNP, the Warriors may use the young star in a trade package for a center. Kerr and his coaching staff have their hands full as they currently sit at eighth in the Western Conference standings with a 13-13 record and are 3.5 games behind sixth-place the Timberwolves.
Gilbert Arenas questions why are there no asterisks on Stephen Curry’s rings
Former Warriors star Kevin Durant joined Curry and the Warriors in 2016. The two giants of the game went on to win back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018 and finished as runner-ups in 2019. During their championship runs, Durant was undoubtedly the best player for the Warriors as he went on to win both Final MVPs.
Despite his success with the Warriors, many have questioned Durant’s legacy and have even gone as far as saying that the two championships should have an asterisk, as he joined a 73-9 team.

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas questioned NBA fans on why they put asterisks on Durant’s rings but not on Curry’s.
It sounds like this: ‘KD’s two championships, ahhh he had a superteam. Those two rings — asterisks. Steph Curry? 4-time champion!’ They don’t say 2 without [Durant]. They say all 4. How unfair is that? I called you to come help me, meaning I know that you are the difference maker, but I get credit for all 4 & they’re questioning your 2.
Gilbert Arenas says he doesn’t understand why NBA fans put asterisks on Kevin Durant’s rings, but not Stephen Curry’s rings 👀💍

While Arenas does make a valid point, because at the end of the da,y both Durant and Curry needed each other to win those championships. But the argument does get a bit complicated as Curry has won two championships without Durant, while he is still searching for his first ring since he left the Warriors in 2019.
