Venus Williams is one of the most reputed and skilled professional tennis players currently and is often regarded as the all-time great of the sport. Though Serena Williams has drawn curtains on her professional tennis career in 2022 at the US Open, Venus is still going strong.

The 41-year-old has won numerous WTA Singles, Doubles, and Mixed doubles tournaments throughout her career. She has won the Wimbledon singles title five times and the US Open singles title two times. She also played in the final of the Australian Open in 2003 and 2017 and was the finalist of the French Open in 2002.

With her younger sister, Serena, she managed to make a hat-trick of gold medals in the Olympics Games. Williams sisters won the women’s double gold medal in Sydney, Beijing, and London. She also paired up with Rajeev Ram to win the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games mixed double silver medal.

However, in the past few seasons, she has been performing underwhelmingly. Since 2020, the former World No.1 has experienced a slump in her form as she could not advance to the second round of the Grand Slams that year. In 2021, her form deteriorated even further, as she dropped out of the Top 100 due to disappointing performances in the Grand Slams and WTA tournaments that year. She missed the first three Grand Slams and was given a wildcard entry in the US Open. However, she lost out to Mihaela Buzarnescu in the first round.

There is no denying the fact that her professional career has been a roller coaster ride, but like a champion; she rose to the occasion and came back with a bang after every single fall. Many skilled tennis players of her generation, including her sister Serena Williams, Roger Federer, and Ashleigh Barty, retired this year. While fans would love to see her play for many more years, it will be pretty interesting to see for how long she can continue her professional run at tennis.
