Bridges was proven to be a clutch player in the World Cup for Team USA last year when he pulled up a buzzer-beater to force OT with Canada.
Smith in his video cheered the Knicks for this decision and was seen to be on the supportive side of having new young talents to help the team nurture in the upcoming season after the Knicks put forward a decent performance in the 2023-2024 NBA playoffs.

Following the already viral reaction video on Twitter, Stephen A. Smith was also seen making big claims of the Knicks winning the upcoming NBA Finals in an interview with First Take. Smith also mentioned that more than the NBA Draft he was more excited about the New York Knicks performing with Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson side by side.
With the Knicks and Dillion Brooks proving their capabilities a role player like Bridges is going to be a valuable role player. Smith also added that the Brooklyn Nets acquired a lot in return for the trade with Knicks.
While the Knicks acquire a role player for their lineup, Bridges can fulfil his dream of reuniting with his Villanova teammates. Brunson, Bridges, and DiVincenzo were together when their high school team won the NCAA championship in 2016 added Smith.
