US Open champion Dominic Thiem has had a very poor season so far. The Austrian was one of the favorite to win the Australian Open but bowed out in the fourth round to Grigor Dimitrov.
He was the top seed at Qatar Open but was knocked out in the quarter-final in three sets by Roberto Bautista Agut. His poor form continued and he lost in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships to qualifier Lloyd Harris.
In Dubai, he did a short and fun Question-Answer session where he answered questions from his day-to-day life. He also shared a chicken story and revealed what he misses most about his home country.
Dominic Thiem wants to be ‘Rafa’ for a day
Ahead of the Dubai Open, Dominic Thiem gave a quick Q&A interview. In the interview he was asked various interesting questions.
On asked what he could find only in Dubai, he cheekily answered ‘The highest building in the world’. He also said that he learned a bit of cooking during the lockdown.
He further added that he would love to learn Spanish. Thiem shared that he always buys Duty free ‘Sunglasses’ from Dubai.
When asked which player would he want to be for one day, the US Open answered the name of his idol and rival ‘Rafa‘.
Thiem then shared a funny chicken story of his pet chickens. He said that his chickens would sometimes get killed by his dog besides that they could live happily. He concluded by saying that he misses the snow from Austria.
On tour, Thiem has decided to withdraw from Miami inorder to shift his full focus on the clay season.
