Manchester United are playing against Villarreal CF at Gdansk in the Europa League final. Villarreal have taken their lead in the titular clash in the first half to instill jitters into the Manchester United camp early on in the match.

Villarreal CF’s talisman Gerard Moreno, yet again came up with a goal and has given his side a crucial lead in the Europa League final. Unai Emery’s side lead 1-0 after 37 minutes into the match.

Manchester United have dominated possession but have failed to work the goal in what has so far been a tactical game between the two sides. A game of few chances so far has seen Villarreal take a lead through a set piece right at the edge of half-time.

Edinson Cavani was guilty of giving away a free-kick just inside the Manchester United half as the Uruguayan clipped Dani Parejo from behind. The referee awarded a free-kick which was taken by the Spaniard himself.

Parejo floated a long ball into the Manchester United penalty box, and his pin-point cross was received by Gerard Moreno inside the box. The Spanish striker pulled away from United’s high line of defence and poked the ball into the bottom right corner past David De Gea in goal.

United have had few chances of getting back into the game despite enjoying most of the possession. Villarreal are keen on defending their slender lead and have defended in numbers.

Thr match is evenly poised at 1-0 going into the half-time break and United need to make yet another comeback to turn this game around in their favour. Expect an exhilarating 45 minutes of football in the second half as United go in full throttle to get the all important equalising goal.
