WATCH: Furious Luka Doncic ‘LOSES IT’ at teammate Maxi Kleber during Clippers blowout game
Luka Doncic was frustrated with Maxi Kleber for failing to catch a pass during the Mavs' 97-109 Game 1 loss to the LA Clippers.
Luka Doncic and Maxi Kleber
Luka Doncic, during the loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, had a moment where he couldn’t put his emotions into check.
He attempted a difficult pass to teammate Maxi Kleber, who couldn’t handle the pass as he fumbled it, and it then led to a turnover; the camera caught the moment clearly as a visibly frustrated Doncic couldn’t hide how he felt about the incident.
That incident appeared to end all hope of a comeback that the Mavericks had attempted, in no part to Kyrie Irving’s 20-point performance in that same period. While fans and analysts are coming after Luka Doncic for his poor sportsmanship, it only demonstrates his passion for success at all costs.
However, the game didn’t go as planned right from the get-go, as James Harden banished his demons to lead the attack without the injured Kawhi Leonard. As the game progressed, Doncic improved, and he ended the game with 33 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists, while partner-in-crime Kyrie Irving had 31 points, four assists, and seven rebounds.
The Clippers had five players in double digits for points, contributing to their win against the odds over the Mavs. However, for game two, everyone expects the Mavs to learn from their mistakes and take the fight to the Clippers.
Luka Doncic admits he needs to be more aggressive
The Dallas Mavericks were totally contained by the LA Clippers, who held them to 30 first-half points as they eventually lost 109-97 in game one of their playoff game. However, much was expected of the Mavs, who knew they wouldn’t have to contend with Kawhi Leonard.
Doncic, after the loss, told himself the hard truth when he acknowledged that he could have been more aggressive. He has said he would when game two comes rolling in.
I just gotta stay aggressive. That was my bad in the first half. It wasn't aggressive enough, so I just got to stay aggressive and find the open man.Luka Doncic said
The Clippers trusted Zubac to anchor their defense, which paid off. Although the Mavs had pushed for the win in the second half, the deed was already done. Doncic would now hope that during game two of their game, he and his teammates would be in sync as he attempts to become more aggressive.
