The Australian Open 2022 gave an incredible start to the new 2022 season for Rafael Nadal. The player first won the ATP Melbourne Summer Set tournament by defeating Maxime Cressy in the finals with a score of 7-6, 6-3 and then earned one of the biggest tennis events of the season, the Australian Open 2022 by knocking out World No.2 Daniil Medvedev in the finals with a score of 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.
Rafa’s win at the Aussie Open has been a very astonishing moment for everyone as he lost two straight sets and there was no chance of the comeback that he made in the tournament. Although Daniil Medvedev gave his best and managed to win the first two sets the level of tennis former World No.1 played in the last set was excellent and it made clear that the legend is back.

People across the globe rejoiced at Rafa’s achievement but one of the most beautiful moments was that of commentator Alex Corretja. Alex is a Spanish former professional tennis player and commentator. During his career, he was a Grand Slam runner-up at the French Open twice and won the ATP Tour World Championships in 1998, reaching a career-high singles ranking of World No.2 in 1999.
In the fifth set when Daniil was not able to return Nadal’s backhand volley everyone present at the court celebrated Nadal’s win but commentator Alex burst into tears and this moment was witnessed by every person worldwide.
Alex’s eyes were filled with tears of joy and he could not believe that Rafa won the title. The Spaniard has lifted the Aussie Open crown after 13 years which was a very emotional moment for Alex as he has followed his career in depth.
