In June, ‘Swiftie’ Iga Swiatek finally attended a Taylor Swift concert in Liverpool despite her congested schedule. The World No.1 has now revealed that she cried a lot after waiting long enough for the right time to attend the concert.
The Polish star had a successful clay swing, winning the French Open, the Madrid Open, and the Italian Open. She then withdrew from the Berlin Ladies Open before attending Swift’s concert, after which she posted a picture of herself crying, holding a handwritten letter from Swift.
Swift, a 14-time Grammy Award winner, performed in Liverpool before heading to the Netherlands to finish the remaining part of her tour. Her personalized letter to Swiatek, however, has remained precious to the WTA World No. 1. In a recent interview, the Polish star revealed that three days after the concert she was so excited that she wanted to attend another one.
“I was in Liverpool to see Taylor Swift. It was amazing to see her live and it was really abstract for me because I just follow her online for my whole life and suddenly she’s there and she really exist, you know I cried a lot, at the beginning and in the middle of the show. And I got a note from her, it was something so real for me. Three days after I was so excited that I wanted to attend again.”

Iga Swiatek’s loss in the third round at Wimbledon meant that she is yet to get past the quarterfinals of the Championship. She has failed to translate her clay court supremacy to grass.
The Polish star has always shown confidence on clay and hard courts, sometimes deploying a change of tactics in a match to help her over the line. But, her grass game has always been easy for opponents to beat.
I feel like on grass I need little bit more of that energy to keep being patient and accept some mistakes. Like mentally, I didn’t really do that well on this tournament. I need to recover better after clay court season, both physically and mentally.

The 23-year-old is next expected to take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will be played at the venue of Roland Garros. Playing on her favorite clay courts, she will be hoping to bring home a gold medal for Poland.
