Ahead of her first Wimbledon match, Iga Swiatek played a game in which she picked her perfect Wimbledon player. There were several options like best serve, backhand, forehand, etc and Swiatek had to choose which players excelled in those techniques.
Wimbledon shared the video on its Instagram handle. The players’ pictures that popped up were of Serena Williams, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, Carlos Alcaraz, Maria Sharapova, Swiatek, and her idol, Rafael Nadal. Swiatek seemed not satisfied by placing herself in the ‘forehand’ category as she was trying to explain that on grass, she doesn’t unleash her best forehand.

Oh, Serena. Everything. Serve. Elena Rybakina, serve. Coco Gauff, backhand, obviously. Carlos Alcaraz, oh my God…the touch. Maria Sharapova…mentality. Oh me, wow, it's a tough one. Yeah, the forehand is a good choice, but on grass…yeah. Rafa..speed. Yeah, it all makes sense, so I am happy with my choices.Iga Swiatek said

Swiatek will kick-start her campaign at SW19 on July 2 against former World No.4 Sofia Kenin. She will be playing on the back of a successful Roland Garros where she picked up her fourth and overall fifth Grand Slam title.
Skipping warm-up tournaments before Wimbledon was a smart decision for Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek pulled herself out of the Berlin Open citing mental and physical fatigue after playing tennis for nine months. The Berlin Open took place after the Roland Garros where the Pole won her third back-to-back title on clay this season, previously winning the Madrid Open and the Italian Open.

Though she plays her best on clay, none of her 22 singles titles have come on grass. Last year at Wimbledon, she reached the quarterfinals- her best performance at SW19- and lost to Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina. In the pre-tournament press conference this season, Swiatek said adapting to grass was tricky at first but has started getting to the rhythm and explained why she chose to skip the Berlin Open and other WTA events on grass before Wimbledon.
You kind of have to choose what’s better also for the future. I think that was a smart decision this year. Next year we’re also going to see what my results are going to look like before Roland-Garros because it all comes up to the final decision.Iga Swiatek said at the press conference
Swiatek is 45/ 4 on the season with five titles, winning the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, and three titles on clay. She leads 2-0 in the head-to-head meeting over her first-round opponent Sofia Kenin.
