Unbelievable scenes at the Mutua Madrid Open Women’s finals. World No.1 Iga Swiatek played one of her best matches to steal a victory against Aryna Sabalenka. Both the players took the game very deep, but it was the Pole who managed to win the epic encounter.
From the get-go, both the players got to work and tried to hold their service games. However, Swiatek, who is usually unbeatable on clay, reminded the Madrid crowd exactly why by taking the first set after a long hour. However, Sabalenka was adamant about not losing her title and fought back in the second set, forcing the game to a final set.

That is when the match took an interesting turn. Both players were holding their serves, and soon the games ticked down. At one point, the defending champion had a match point to her name, but Swiatek saved that and brought a tie-break in the last set.
Still, the players managed to stay neck-to-neck until Swiatek swooped in with a last point to win the longest Hologic WTA Tour Finals match ( 3 hours and 11 minutes) 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(7). After the nail-biter of a finish, Swiatek burst into tears of joy as she concluded a brilliant season at the Spanish Capital. In tears, she ran to her team and shared the joy of winning with them.
Iga Swiatek became the youngest player to win 20 titles in a long time after a sizzling final against Aryna Sabalenka
WTA No.1 and No.2 were back at it to conclude the Mutua Madrid Open. They have faced each other multiple times before, making this match all the more interesting. Unfortunately, Aryna Sabalenka could not win her third Madrid title, but Swiatek reached a new milestone with the win.

With the win at the Spanish Capital, Swiatek now has 20 singles titles in her career and became the youngest player to do so since Caroline Wozniacki in 2012. Moreover, it was a perfect revenge for the Pole, who had worked extremely hard for the win.
Throughout the match, Iga Swiatek saved three championship points to win a title in Madrid. With this, the Pole has won every European clay court tournament, WTA 500 and above. This ends an amazing couple of weeks for the women at the Madrid Open, who will be back in action at the Rome Open.
