Fellow boxing promoters Jake Paul and Eddie Hearn are just taking their promotional skills to next level, case in point, betting on point. Paul, the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions who manages women’s boxing great Amanda Serrano and Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Sport who manages Olympic boxing champion Katie Taylor, have been successful in making a showdown between Serrano and Taylor possible come this April 30, 2022, in Madison Square Garden.
Paul, who’s an undefeated boxer himself has started the Most Valuable Promotions with 2 goals to achieve in mind i.e. to elevate women’s boxing to more media attention and be another platform for bringing out upcoming talent for the sport. Paul so far has justified both his goals by rightfully promoting Serrano and a promising upcoming prospect in Ashton Sylve. Hearn on the other hand is a veteran in his business for a very long time and is responsible for promoting the likes of Katie Taylor, Anthony Joshua, Canelo Alvarez and many more.
Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul agree with betting rules with respect to ongoing odds
In a pre-fight press conference between Serrano and Taylor, Hearn and Paul took the centre seats and out of nowhere, Paul proposed to Hearn for a bet. The bet was based on whose fighter would win, Paul’s Serrano or Hearn’s Taylor.
Hearn was witty enough to reply “I am not getting a tattoo,” referring to Paul’s bet against Tyron Woodley in their first fight when Paul said if Woodley loses to him, he must get an “I love Jake Paul” tattoo. And yes, after losing to Paul back in August 2021 via split decision Woodley did have the tattoo, on his middle finger.
As the conversation kept moving on, Paul said that he wants to bet his jewellery worth a million dollars in favour of the prediction that Serrano will win the historic fight. Hearn obviously had to disagree, to side with Taylor. Eventually, on the condition that the bet will be based on the odds for the fight, both the promoters shook each other’s hands.
