Team India gave joy to all their fans and supporters after they won the T20 World Cup 2024 undefeated. It was a welcome joy for all the fans and players after the heartbreaks they had to endure for the past 11 years. They had came close to the trophy but faltered in the semifinal or the final. However, finally, they managed to overcome their final hurdle to script history as won their second T20 World Cup title after winning their first one in 2007.
Just six months ago, India had a fantastic run in the ODI World Cup 2023 at home. They beat all the teams in the 10 games in the lead up to the final. This was their best-ever performance in a ODI World Cup campaign. However, they suffered a painful defeat in the night of the final against Australia and it left a painful scar in the minds of the players and the Indian fans.
Rohit Sharma was especially disappointed and heartbroken. He wanted to win a ODI World Cup at all costs and led from the front. After the final, BCCI secretary, Jay Shah commented that he wants to assure the fans and everyone that under Sharma’s captaincy they will plant the Indian tricolour after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados.
Everybody had been waiting for my statement on the World Cup. In 2023, India did not win the World Cup after winning 10 matches straight, but we won hearts. His prophecy has come true. India managed to register a historic victory against South Africa in the final in Barbados. After the win, Sharma was seen planting the tricolour on the Barbados outfield.
India scripted a history victory against South Africa by 7 runs in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024
Coming to the game, Virat Kohli stood up on the day of the final and delivered the goods for India. He saved India from a precarious position who chose to bat first and lost 3 quick wickets. Kohli scored 76 runs of 59 balls and was very well supported by Axar Patel who scored 47 runs of 31 balls. India scored 176 runs in their 20 overs.
In reply, South Africa were on the brink of winning after they needed 30 runs off 30 balls with 6 wickets in hand. Heinrich Klaasen was at his destructive best with 52 runs off 27 balls. But what happened in the next 5 overs was a fairytale ending. South Africa stumbled against the combined efforts of Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah as India registered a historic victory by 7 runs. Kohli and Sharma also announced their T20I retirement after this game.
