June 29 was a memorable day for the Indian Cricket Team and their fans. Indian cricketers finally managed to end the agony of whole nation without an ICC trophy for 11 long years and won the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in Barbados. There was a celebration of joy all across the nation after the Men in Blue created history.

The whole country was waiting for their heroes to come back to the country with the World Cup trophy. They reached New Delhi in the morning of June 4 and met with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. In the evening, they were part of a historic open bus parade through the Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium.

Lakhs of fans gathered there to celebrate the World Cup win with the triumphant Indian cricketers. The players were raising the World Cup trophy in the bus and were equally met with chants from the fans. However, a video of BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, taking the World Cup trophy from Jasprit Bumrah and raising it did not sit well with the fans in social media.

Jay Shah promised the fans that India will win the T20 World Cup 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma in Barbados

India suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia in Ahmedabad. It was a memorable campaign for the Men in Blue till the final of the tournament. They were sensational in the whole tournament and won all the 10 games dominantly but fate had other plans for them in Ahmedabad.

However, ahead of the start of IPL 2024, BCCI Secretary, Shah promised everyone that India will go onto lift the T20 World Cup 2024 and plant the Indian tri color in the Barbados outfield under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

I have not made any comments about the 2023 World Cup, in which we lost the final in Ahmedabad. However, I can assure you that India will clinch the T20 World Cup in Barbados on June 29 under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. At this point in time, Rohit is an all-format captain. It is a collective decision, and the selectors are fully aligned on the matter. Hardik Pandya will retain his position as vice-captain for the T20 World Cup.

Team India made his prophecy come true as they beat South Africa by 7 runs in a nail-biting final and managed to win the T20 World Cup undefeated.
