England continues to dominate West Indies in their own den as their batters put up quite a show once again, hammering away 416 runs in the first innings. Ollie Pope‘s century laced with a Ben Stokes special and an early blitz from Ben Duckett saw the hosts getting into the driver’s seat in the second Test as well.
Despite the woes, however, West Indies didn’t have any dearth of excitement every time they got a wicket or had something to smile about. One of the primary examples of the same was that of Kevin Sinclair who went on a double summersault after he got the big wicket of Harry Brook early in the day. This is not the first time though, Sinclair pulled off a similar celebration. In fact, he calls it his signature rejoice after registering important scalps.
It was an absolute treat for the cricket fans. A slightly over-pitched delivery from Sinclair saw Brook trying to scoop him over fine-leg but failed to get the shot right. It went straight up and landed safely in the hands of Kirk McKenzie at short-leg. The moment the catch was taken, Sinclair went for his acrobatic feat and completed it without much of a fuss.
Ian Bishop who was on the microphone for that particular moment talked about how Sinclair’s granddad, Carlton Sinclair who was watching him all the way from Guyana will be applauding him for removing Brooks and following that up with a classy celebration.
How the battle between West Indies and England continue to unfurl at Trent Bridge?
After a dominant start from the top-order, West Indies finally managed to make inroads in the form of Brook. However, whatever advantage they were looking forward to, was being snatched away by a persistent Ben Stokes who joined forces with Pope and got the ship going. Eventually at the end of their innings, the hosts piled up 416 runs, courtesy of a collaborative display from their batters.
Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the lot with figures of 3/98 while the trio of Jayden Seales, Kevin Sinclair and Kavem Hodge plundered six wickets between them. Despite the early departure of Mikyle Louis and Kirk McKenzie, West Indies managed to find themselves afloat.
Their skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite managed to start well with a well-orchestrated 48 while Alick Athanaze and Hodge seemed in good touch to keep the visitors from crumbling while posting a solid fight for the ongoing fourth wicket stand in Trent Bridge.
