Mavs GM Nico Harrison seems to face the wrath of Dallas even after 2 weeks of the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade deal.

After the transaction that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers, Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison is not a popular figure in Dallas. After he attended a Mustangs match on Tuesday night, other SMU students joined in on the hateful chanting he had already heard at his team’s arena. Harrison had to face the ‘Fire Nico’ chants once again but this time by students.

Less than two weeks have passed since the world was made aware of what is perhaps the largest (and most perplexing) deal in NBA history. Anthony Davis was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks, and Luka Doncic joined the Lakers as their newest player. However, even after two weeks, the dust has not settled for the Mavericks’ GM.

If Harrison believed he would be welcomed to Tuesday’s ACC matchup between SMU and Pitt, he was gravely mistaken. On Monday, several individuals were banished from the Mavericks vs. Kings game. This was again, due to their “Fire Nico” remarks during that game. However, he faced the same when the GM set up shop at Moody Arena adjacent to the SMU student section.

The Mavericks used the NBA’s code of conduct as justification for their decision to kick out the supporters who had engaged in a similar behavior at American Airlines Center. However, the SMU students appeared to be immune from punishment after Harrison decided to visit their home field. This might turn out to be an all-time sports gaffe. Also, it may be interpreted as overly harsh punishment for a deal that brought Davis to the Mavericks this season.

Mark Cuban was not a big fan of fans chanting ‘fire Nico’ towards Nico Harrison

Mavericks’ GM Nico Harrison is not going to get away with the fans’ rage anytime soon. This was very evident at the Mavs’ recent game against the Sacramento Kings. However, former Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is among those attempting to diffuse the demonstrations and the “Fire Nico” chants around the business.

A video shows Cuban getting up from his seat, spinning around, and telling the crowd to “sit the f*** down.” This happened when fans screaming “Fire Nico” was captured at the Mavericks’ most recent game. According to Marc Stein, there were rumors that Cuban attempted to prevent Harrison from making the transaction. This was because he didn’t appear to like the trade either.

Not only that, Cuban himself revealed that he was ‘stunned’ when the trade came to fruition in actuality. The former majority owner revealed that he would not have allowed the trade, should he have been at the helm of the Mavs’ board. Nevertheless, only time will tell whether the Mavs fans find peace with Harrison or not.
