Things went absolutely crazy at Brighton as Ollie Robinson found himself at the receiving end of some serious smashing, thanks to Leicestershire’s Louis Kimber. England international, Robinson persisted with the similar length as Kimber came smashing after him.
Ollie Robinson registered this unwanted record next to his name as he bowled the second costliest over in a first-class County Championship encounter. The right-arm seamer who threatened to leave India charred with his feisty brand of bowling back in England’s tour of India, bowled nine balls in the over which went for 43 runs.

The 30-year-old seamer was bowling for Sussex against Leicestershire in a Division Two Match at the county ground in Brighton and Hove. A total of five sixes were struck in the over, three came off no balls.
Apart from the maximums, three fours were struck too and just to finish things off with a whimper, Kimber took a single on the last ball. Kimber started the over, batting on 72 from 56 while he finished it with 109 off 65. The agonizing over from Robinson featured figures of 6, 6nb, 4, 6, 4, 6nb, 4, 6nb, 1.
What happened in the game between Sussex and Leicestershire?
Sadly enough for Kimber and his team, Leicestershire, things didn’t pan out in the way he wanted. Batting first, Sussex piled up 442 in the first innings. John Simpson and Oli Carter were the top scorers with scores of 183* and 96 respectively.
Ian Holland led the charge with the ball in his hands, registering figures of 4/64. He had support from Scott Currie and Wiaan Mulder as the duo plundered five wickets between them.

Leics failed to get the desired fuel in their respective first innings as they were skittled out for 275. Peter Handscomb smashed 92 but he didn’t have much help from the other side. Sean Hunt charged through the batting line-up with figures of 4/70.
Sussex declared for 296 in the second innings as Tom Alsop’s 81 played an instrumental charge. Scott Currie was once again the pick of the lot with figures of 2/28.
Despite Louis Kimber’s heroic 243 which came off just 127 balls, the Leicestershire batters failed to give him company as they were skittled out for 445, eventually falling short of the finish line by 18 runs.
