WATCH – Sreesanth bowls leg-spin in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy; takes a wicket
S Sreesanth
S Sreesanth has been in the limelight for quite some time since the start of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Returning to competitive cricket after a gap of 7 years, the pacer has been his vintage aggressive self – having a go at batsmen, staring at them and exchanging words. Though he hasn’t been extremely successful in the tournament, his return has truly been a sight to behold.
Kerala have currently won 3 out of their 4 matches in the tournament and are in good stead to go all the way. Their only loss came in the latest match against Andhra Pradesh where the batters faltered and scored only 112 in their 20 overs on a sluggish pitch. The Andhra batters chased it down with ease in 17.1 overs.
Sreesanth does a Kumble
In the second innings of the aforementioned match, Andhra Pradesh were cruising towards a comfortable victory when Sreesanth resorted to bowling leg-spin in an attempt to take a wicket. He succeeded in doing so as well by removing opener Ashwin Hebbar. Although the wicket didn’t turn out to be too influential, the moment was a fascinating one with the pacer bowling with an Anil Kumble-like action.
Having made his mark in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Sreesanth will now aim to make a comeback in the upcoming Indian Premier League. He is expected to enter his name in the auctions which are set to take place in mid-February.
