UFC Lightweight Tony Ferguson is up to date with the MMA’s meme community and no one is safe from his catchphrase now, not even MMA Legend Daniel Cormier. Ferguson, the former interim-lightweight champion is fighting this weekend at UFC 274 against former UFC title challenger and former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Michael Chandler. While Chandler is on a 2-fight skid, Ferguson is on a 3-fight skid and therefore both need the victory to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
Before his ongoing losing streak, Ferguson was highly respected and known in the MMA community for his legendary 12-fight winning streak which included victories over the likes of Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, Kevin Lee, Rafael Dos Anjos, Josh Thomson, Edson Barboza and many more. Ferguson’s winning streak came to an unfortunate ending at the hands of the one half of the main event of UFC 274, Justin Gaethje who’s going to fight the current lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, in a second title shot.
Tony Ferguson keeps shifting Daniel Cormier from talking about Khabib to talking about Chandler
In an interview with Daniel Cormier on his special THE DC CHECK-IN, Ferguson was trying to derail Cormier from the conversation of Cormier’s teammate, Ferguson’s rival and former undefeated UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. While Ferguson was the one who started talking about Nurmagomedov, he was slick enough to come back to talking about his next opponent Michael Chandler.
In the midst of all, when Ferguson starts talking about Chandler, Cormier mistakenly interrupts Ferguson to complete his question, that’s when Ferguson hits Cormier with his famous line, “Hold on Brother I’m Talking”, and a moment of humour breaks into the room, lighting up the intense interview.
