Indian captain Rohit Sharma was spotted being emotional and crying after the big win against England. Of course those were tears of his joy. His opening partner and another senior star, Virat Kohli, was seen cheering him up.

Two years ago in the 2022 T20 World Cup, England thumped India by 10 wickets. That was definitely a heartbreaking night for Sharma and co. However, this time around, they have returned the favors to England with interest.

Sharma’s emotions stems from the fact that it is yet another World Cup final for him in six months’ time after he suffered a painful and heartbreaking defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia. It was a difficult pill to swallow for the Hitman as he so desperately wanted that cup. However, destiny has put his team again in the same position. This time around, Sharma would like to change the outcome of the deciding game and end the campaign on the good note ending India’s ICC trophy drought.

Rohit Sharma set the game against England in the semi final of the T20 World Cup 2024 on a sluggish wicket

Coming to the game, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to field first with the threat of rain. However, the India got what they wanted as Rohit Sharma wanted to bat first given how they have defended totals in this tournament. Virat Kohli returned to the pavilion for cheap yet again. However, the Indian captain did the talking with 57 runs of 39 balls, which was worth its weight in gold.

Suryakumar Yadav joined the party with a 47-run innings off 36 balls. India reached 171 in their full quota of 20 overs courtesy of late strikes by Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. It was always going to be a tough chase for England against India’s daunting bowling attack on a wicket like this. England’s batters fell like a pack of cards against the likes of Bumrah, Patel and Yadav.

England were all out for just 103 runs in 16.4 overs. Patel and Yadav picked up 3 wickets. Bumrah had 2 wickets to show for his efforts. India have reached their 3rd ICC final in one year’s time and have a chance to aim for glory yet again!
