Philadelphia Sixers’ rookie Jared McCain, the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, made headlines during his appearance on the “Podcast P with Paul George” show. The Duke standout, who is expected to be part of the Sixers’ rotation this season, made a candid admission about Stephen Curry during the interview.

In addition, McCain expressed excitement for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season. When asked which players he’s most eager to watch, McCain mentioned a few intriguing names.

I would love to say Jalen Brunson, not quite there yet. Steph Curry. Obviously, Steph Curry of course. I would love to be even close to that. I think, like CJ McCollum.

McCain’s Summer League performance highlighted his potential but also showed areas for improvement. He averaged 11.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 28.6% from the field and 25.5% from beyond the arc—figures that suggest room for growth. At just 20 years old, McCain needs time to adjust to the NBA level.

Jared McCain reveals important advice shared to him by Stephen Curry

Jared McCain is one exciting prospect the Sixers have acquired for the upcoming season. He is determined to improve his game despite being termed as ‘undersized’ by some NBA fans and experts. However, McCain remained unfazed by all the noise and instead took advice from one of the greatest players in the NBA, Stephen Curry.

McCain revealed the advice that Curry gave him in a conversation with The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor last month. 

All he said was trust is work, that’s been a good mantra for me to just live by. At that point, it kind of came back to me. I was just like, I got to keep working.
