Kenyon Martin recalls hilarious strip club story

Ever since reports emerged of JJ Redick watching game film in a car wash, the internet hasn’t stopped buzzing with excitement. The player-turned-coach’s tactics have been a breath of fresh air for NBA and Lakers fans. But as news of Redick’s dedication to watching film surfaced, former NBA star Kenyon Martin revealed an even wilder story of his dedication.

Martin, the 15-year veteran journeyman, revealed the weirdest place he has reviewed game footage—the strip club. Speaking on the Gil’s Arena show with hosts Josiah Johnson and Gilbert Arenas, Martin admitted that he used to go to strip clubs to find some peace and quiet.

Quite the odd admission, but the journeyman apparently used to find time in the strip club to review film.

So for me, I used to go to the strip club, and sit there and watch the games. People would come (but), I (was) locked in.

The conversation came up after Arenas and the crew mocked JJ Redick after the hilarious story of him watching tape in a carwash. Gilbert Arenas mockingly tweeted that he had seen Redick watching film in the theatre during a Venom screening.

The crew then dug into stories of the weirdest places they had watched film. Kenyon Martin certainly took home the prize with his strip club story. However, Martin wasn’t alone in this.

Arenas also recalled a story from his own experience. Arenas admitted that he, too, would carry a laptop to the strip club when the Wizards faced the Cavaliers during the playoffs between 2006-2008.

JJ Redick earns coaching praise from Lakers legend

JJ Redick has been receiving praise from NBA legends throughout the community ever since he took over as the Lakers HC. The 40-year-old first-time head coach has been a revelation for the team so far. Lakers legend Matt Barnes took to his podcast with serious praise for Redick and his coaching mantra.

JJ moves around with an arrogance and confidence because he does the work. .JJ is someone who comes off a certain way, but when you know him, the dude is always a consummate professional. Beautiful mind when it comes to X’s and O’s.

Matt Barnes said on the All the Smoke podcast

JJ Redick’s Xs and Os have been primarily visible in the Lakers offense. The team has had a 117 offensive rating to start the year, compared to the 115.9 under coach Darvin Ham last season.

But the more visible change has been in the ball movement and set plays that the Lakers offense has employed. As the team continues to progress through the season, expect to see the Lakers dig in and become a more cohesive offensive squad.
