On the occasion of the New Year’s Eve, the NHL fans were treated with a Winter Classic game between the St. Louis Blues and the Chicago Blackhawks. The two teams faced off at the Wrigley Field, home of MLB’s Chicago Cubs. NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky revealed that he received a hilarious text from Blues’ captain Brayden Schenn in the middle of the game.
Gretzky was part of the NHL on TNT crew on Tuesday. “The Great One” ran into some of the Blues players a few days ago. He would reveal what happened during this meet.
During the meet, Wayne Gretzky would claim that the player who will be selected as the MVP of this game, would win a car. One of the Blues players would jokingly claim that Schenn would need to win just one face-off to become the MVP.
Gretzky, who was part of the MVP selection committee, would receive a text from Schenn at the end of the second period. At that point, the Blues were winning the game 5-1. The 33-year-old would tell Gretzky that he wants that car.

Brayden Schenn admits he asked Nick Foligno for the fight
A captain’s bout broke out in the third period as Brayden Schenn and Nick Foligno dropped the gloves during the Winter Classic game. In an interview, Schenn admitted that he was the one who asked the Chicago Blackhawks star for a fight.
In most scenarios in the NHL, fights usually break out when the teams are level or losing in the game. During the third period, the Blues were 5-1 up and needed no reason to pick up a fight. Despite this, Schenn decided to throw some haymakers. The Canadian international claimed that he asked for the fight as he wanted to create a memory at the Wrigley Field.
