Rafael Nadal is known to be one of the kindest players on the tour. He has been applauded by his fellow players for his commitment to the game. While on the court, Rafa rarely engages in a negative deed such as throwing a racket. However, some rumours have come forth about his locker room behaviour.

The 20-time grand slam champion has garnered himself much admiration over the years. He has given a recent interview, where he has cleared all the misconceptions about his off the court persona.

I’m not shouting in the locker room: Rafa

While speaking to Corriere Della Serra, Rafa has declared that he does not indulge in the rumoured behaviour. The rumours include Rafa yelling in the locker room with other reports involving Rafa being critical of his opponents. However, Rafa has shut the claims and denied them.

“I’m not shouting in the locker room! I take an ice cold shower, listen to the music in my headphones and, yes, I tie the bandana. But I have never allowed myself to intimidate an opponent,” Nadal said.

While preparing for a match, Rafa does not aim to intimidate his rivals. Further, neither does he shout. Rafa takes an ice-cold shower and listens to music. He also ties the bandana while setting up for the match. The Spaniard next answered if he praises his opponent after the match.

“Sometimes I do. It’s rare and it’s normal, we are not here to applaud each other. It’s up to the public to decide,” he added.

Thus, Rafa cannot applaud an opponent who does not deserve it. We may criticise him for this as the World No.1 Novak Djokovic is rather avid to applaud his opponents on an excellent shot. Rafa is currently at the ATP Paris Masters’ events and will soon be seen at the ATP finals in London.
