Iga Swiatek‘s father, Tomasz Swiatek, has moved past the disappointment of his daughter not winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. She was the heavy favorite to win the gold after her previous success in Paris but fell in the semifinals to Qinwen Zheng.

Speaking to the media, Tomasz said his daughter is happy to settle for bronze at the Olympics. He also expressed optimism that the reigning French Open champion will eventually secure the gold medal for her country.

Well, the tourney is now finished, so Iga is somewhat fulfilled and satisfied that she has that medal? We don't dwell on things or discuss what could've been because that would not be the right way to move forward.

Iga has won five Grand Slam titles, including four at the French Open, with her latest coming earlier this year. However, her Olympic gold medal bid will have to wait another four years. With the event behind her, she will now turn her focus to American hard court action, bidding to win her second US Open title later this month.

I'm sorry to announce that due to overall fatigue caused by the last couple of weeks on the court I need to withdraw from the tournament in Toronto.
