Michael Chandler came out of nowhere in 2021 and fought Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title and lost. The fighter made an impressive mark on the people when he took on Justin Gaethje at 268 later that year.

It was an amazing fight and an instant classic as both fighters gave it their best. Chandler proved that he is not a boring fighter at all and will do everything to win as well as entertain the fans. Although he lost the fight, Chandler managed to get a lot of attention.

Recently, he fought UFC veteran Tony Ferguson and brutally knocked him out in the second round. His fighting style, the energetic call-outs and his confidence are some of the traits that have made Chandler a fan favourite.

Chandler recently did an interview with TMZ Sports where he spoke about who he wants to fight next.

While elaborating on the topic, Chandler revealed that he wants a shot at the gold and fights the top contenders. The former Bellator champion mentioned that Dariush is one of the top fighters in the lightweight division after Islam Makhachev. Chandler suggested that if UFC decides to make a fight between him and Dariush it would be a great decision for the future of the division.

” Next I wanna put myself on line for a title. You know, I think, in my mind Beneil Dariush was in the number one contender spot. Beneil Dariush is on a seven fight win streak maybe so how do you not say Beneil Dariush might be the number one contender outside of Islam Makhachev. So essentially the number two contender. Maybe you put me and Dariush in by the end of the year we end up getting some answers pretty quick.”

Chandler has a huge fan base and every MMA fight would agree that the fighter is extremely entertaining to watch. People are excited to see him fight again and a bout with Dariush is not a bad idea. Let’s see how this fight shapes in the upcoming months.
