Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan

The Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan duo is one of the most spoken about duo in the history of NBA. How Batman needed Robin, Michael Jordan needed Scottie Pippen to bring glory to the Chicago Bulls and as some suggest add to his glory. Although it was Jordan who led the Bulls. But if it wasn’t for Pippen, Bulls would have never been able to stamp their authority season after season in the 90’s.

There is no doubt that there were one in a million characteristics players put together under Phil Jackson’s Bulls in the 90’s. Pippen was surely a unique one. He spoke about his and Jordan’s relationship in a recent interview with ‘The Guardian‘. Scottie expressed his views about the ‘Special Bond’ between his co-star as well.

“It was special” Scottie Pippen on his special bond with Michael Jordan

“Yeah, that relationship, we established that we felt like that in the late 80s, playing against the Pistons, just starting to grow and mature and have each other’s backs. We grew up together and we defended each other. That respect we had on the court, that competitiveness we took through to the top – it was special. That was the respect we had for each other, because we had to be on the court to do what we did. We had to be dominant.”

The Pistons took a rough and tough approach to stop Jordan in his tracks, which worked brilliantly for a few seasons. But as soon as Pippen joined forces with Jordan, sky was the limit for this duo and the Bulls. The two superstars always had each other’s backs during those fantastic championship runs. They won six NBA championships with the Bulls and if it wasn’t for disputes with the team management, they could have bagged a few more without a second thought.
