“We have the same thing” Derrick Rose wants to lead like Jimmy Butler
Detroit Pistons’ point guard Derrick Rose is super impressed by how Jimmy Butler led Miami Heat to the NBA Finals last season and wants to emulate the same. The Pistons were no way close to making it in the playoffs last season and were somewhat disappointing in the regular season as well. But after acquiring Killian Hayes in the 2020 Draft, they have high hopes of making a deep run in this season.
Rose has had quite a roller coaster ride in the NBA. After winning the NBA MVP award in his third season, it all started to go downhill for him after he tore his ACL in the playoff. After spending a long time with the Chicago Bulls, Rose went from team to team in hopes of living up to his name in the same fashion as earlier.
Derrick Rose impressed with Jimmy Butler’s leadership skills at Miami Heat
Rose is ready to stay another season for the Pistons, he believes his team isn’t any different from Miami Heat. And he believes he can take up the same role Butler holds in Heat.
Butler undoubtedly redeemed himself as a good teammate and more importantly a god leader in the previous season. Not only did he play well but his Heat companions, idealise him. Having inspire them to the NBA Finals in the previous season, the Heat were clearly the underdogs but shut down all their critics in exquisite fashion.
As per Heat Nation, “I look at that and I look at our team, we have the same thing. We have a lot of young guys. It’s up to them how good they want to become. We’ll do as much as we can do to push them and set an example.”
Having said that, taking up a role like that won’t come easy. It could mean sometimes going against the teammates and still manage to maintain a great relationship with them. Do you think Rose is ready for that?
