Alexander Zverev has hit his peak form in the past month, with back to back titles in Cologne. The German also defeated Rafael Nadal at the Paris Masters in the semifinals to set up a final clash with fellow Nextgen star Daniil Medvedev. Zverev attributes a part of this success to his partnership with his David Ferrer in the lockdown.

Speaking after defeating Rafael Nadal in the semifinals, Alexander Zverev spoke about the importance of Ferrer in his improved performances on tour. “I’m extremely happy,” Zverev said after downing Nadal. “How the season continued for me after the break has been pretty good.“Obviously I’m very happy with my winning streak.“I think the biggest influence were the practice we did during the break that we had because of Covid,” said Zverev.

Alexander Zverev boasts a win-loss record of 21-3, ever since the season resumed in July. He also made it to the finals at the US Open 2020, losing to Dominic Thiem in a five set thriller. After his 4th round exit at the French Open, Zverev won back to back titles in Cologne and backed that up by reaching the finals at the Paris Masters.

Alexander Zverev said that he had worked with David Ferrer during the lockdown, and focused on important aspects of his game. “I think we worked quite hard on a lot of things. We improved a lot of things and I think it is showing on court now.“ “This was always a tournament where I never did well and now I’m in the final. I hope I can continue playing the way I’m playing,” said the German.

Alexander Zverev will face Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the Paris Masters to lift his 3rd consecutive title and extend his unbeaten run to 13 matches. The German is also qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals, a title he won in 2018 defeating Novak Djokovic in the finals.
