‘We were not sharp enough’ : Thomas Tuchel gives his assessment on the loss against West Bromwich Albion

The Blues were defeated for the first time under the German coachn during the weekend. West Bromwich Albion left Stamford Bridge with all three points from a crazy game that ended 5-2 to the visitors.
Despite leading through Christian Pulisic, a red card to Thiago Silva totally changed the face of the game and Thomas Tuchel felt that his team did not adapt well enough to situation and suggested that the defending was not at the optimal level it has been in recent weeks.
Thomas Tuchel will look to make amends against FC Porto
It is extremely true that individual defensive errors lead to Chelsea’s demise against West Bromwich Albion. In particular Jorginho had a horrid game and gave the ball away in crucial positions. Tuchel believes the precision and accuracy in passing was missing and that caused problems.
The Blues tried several times to pass out from the back but could not soak up the pressure. This is a tactic several of the big teams ij Europe are currently employing but it poses several problems.
Chelsea have an opportunity to immediately bounce back when they face FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals on Wednesday night. Porto defeated Juventus in dramatic fashion in the previous round.
‘We were not sharp enough and we didn’t catch the momentum to be sharper, to be closer and to be more aggressive,’ explained our Thomas Tuchel.
‘We didn’t get tight enough to play as a block and make it harder to break through us. We could do that and then wait for our chances on the counter-attack but we didn’t do this well.
