The incident is believed to be the first of its kind in the Premier League. Both Leicester City and Crystal Palace had decided pre-match with referee Graham Scott that the match would be stopped in between.

Fofana and Kouyate were allowed to have food during an interval in the first half of the match

Fofana has managed to continue playing during the fasting period and has maintained his high standards despite not taking in any food or drink during daylight hours. Most Muslim players continue their fast throughout their matches because of their Islamic tradition and still manage to maintain their level at the biggest stage of football.
