It is going all haywire for Brazilian midfielder, Lucas Paqueta as he now faces a couple of more charges where it labels him of obstructing investigation. He was allegedly involved in a betting incident where Football Association (FA) has launched a full-blown inquest into it.
Lucas Paqueta was slated to face a hearing on March but now FA has added two more charges against him where he has failed to cooperate with the investigation committee, as reported by the Sun. Last year the FA sequestered his phone for a couple of months which was a routine part of their investigation.
During the entire episode, Paqueta decided to buy another phone as his own phone was taken away for two months in order to check out the banking history, call history and the messages that has gone out of his phone. Despite returning the original device when Paqueta was asked to return the device back to the authorities in order to verify augmented details, the Brazilian said that he could not locate his phone.
The initial charges placed on him stated that he had intentionally been booked in matches against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Leeds during the 2023-24 season. As per the reports and the claims, there were associates linked with him externally who made profits with the bets placed on him being booked. However, as expected, Paqueta has denied all allegation against him. In an earlier incident, the Brazilian attacker was supposed to head to Manchester City but his betting allegations put a halt to the prized move for the star.
Here is how West Ham has fared in the ongoing edition of the Premier League and what awaits them
West Ham haven’t really been off to a great start to the season. There have been question marks so far and they are yet to find their footing. They have so far secured two wins from seven games while drawing another couple of them. They regained momentum against an ailing Ipswich Town as they raged through their counterparts by a staggering 4-1 margin.
With two big clashes in the upcoming days where they will be taking on Tottenham Hotspur in the next week followed by a battle against Manchester United on 27th October, the Hammers will be hoping for a resurgence. Currently they are in the 12th position of the points table and a win against the Lilywhites can usher them to get their minds off the Paqueta scene to what comes next.
