West Ham vs Newcastle United Player Ratings
West Ham
Fabianski (7/10): Didn’t have many shots to deal with. Could have done better with Williock’s goal.
Fredericks (3/10): Had the opportunity to seal a place in the starting eleven. What followed was a really disappointing first half and being taken off at the interval.
Dawson (8/10): Craig Dawson’s goal-scoring run continues. The defender headed in the opener for West Ham.
Kurt Zouma (8/10): Back in the starting eleven after pulling out late last game. Zouma did well to deal with Chris Wood.
Cresswell (8/10): Solid first half from Cresswell. As mentioned earlier, it was his delivery that found Dawson.
Soucek (2/10): A very strange performance from Soucek. Invisible in attack and invisible in defence.
Rice (5/10): Had his good moments carrying the ball up. However, he was absolutely getting mugged off by Willock.
Bowen (6/10): Picked up some really threatening positions. Struggle to deal with Dan Burn.
Benrahma (5/10): Poor first half. However, he made good runs in the second but his teammates couldn’t find him.
Pablo Fornals (6/10): Similar to Benrahama but Moyes trusted him and didn’t take him off. Couldn’t repay the faith.
Antonio (7/10): The best out of West Ham’s attack. This is formidable considering he had to drift wide often.
Substitutes:
Ben Johnson (6/10): Came on at the start of the second half. Didn’t have a meaningful impact.
Vlasic (6/10): Came on for a frustrated Benrahama. Provided that extra something out wide which the former could not.
Newcastle United
Dubravka (8/10): Could not have done anything for their goal. Dealt well with their aerial quality.
Krafth (7/10): Wasn’t effective going forward. Did his job defensively. Picked up a nasty injury at the end.
Schar (7/10): Wasn’t his best game for the Toons. However, still defended well and showed character.
Dan Burn (9/10): His best performance since signing for Newcastle. Defended everything with heart up his sleeves.
Targett (7/10): Had a really poor first half. Grew into it as the game went on. Decent going forward.
Joe Willock (9/10): MOTM performances from the goalscorer Willock. Showed signs of his last season form.
Shelvey (7/10): Created the defensive balance for Joelinton and Willock to thrive on. Played some good passes too.
Joelinton (8/10): His resurgence under Howe continues. Joelinton was absolutely pivotal in carrying the ball up the field.
Ryan Fraser (7/10): Struggled to deal with the likes of Zouma and Dawson. Had his moments out wide.
Chris Wood (6/10): Wood still seems to be adapting to his new club. Nevertheless, left his mark with his hard work.
Jacob Murphy (7/10): Playing for Allan Saint-Maximin was always going to be taught to live up to. Murphy did decent, however, Howe must hope the talisman is back soon.
