“We’ve added some ATHLETICISM”:Packers GM Brian Gutekunst believes the addition of WRs Watson and Watkins improves the squad

Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst is known to trade up in the first round and has done so repeatedly since being appointed as the GM in 2018. This time again he has done it again and they have taken in North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson.
Christian Watson was quite heavily linked with the Green Bay Packers and hence it is not that much of a surprise that he landed there. The Packers traded pick no.s 53 and 59 to the Minnesota Vikings and in return got the 34th overall pick to acquire Christian Watson.
Brian Gutekunst thinks Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins bring in athleticism to the Packers
The Green Bay Packers have brought in two wide receivers in the form of Sammy Watkins and Christian Watson. While Brian Gutekunst doesn’t feel that they are completely ‘settled’ with their addition, he thinks that they bring in athleticism to the Packers and will complement Aaron Rodgers, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb.
Brian Gutekunst explained his decision to trade up to get NDSU man Christian Watson. He said that they had Watson come over in one of their 30 visits and liked him from the onset. He [Watson] has great athletic traits and they have a big future for him.
“He’s a big, fast, physical receiver. We think his best football is ahead of him,” Gutekunst said. “We brought him in for one of our 30 visits, got a chance to spend a lot of time with him. Really smart kid who we feel will fit our culture. He’s got really good tape, his athletic traits are off the charts, and the more we got to know him as a person, we felt really good about him.”
“Size and speed is important to us,” Gutekunst said.“I feel good about his hands. There will be a transition time here,” Gutekunst said. “I’m not worried about that.”
