Darius Leonard speaks up for HBCUs
In an interview conducted on ‘NFL Network’, Darius Leonard was quoted saying “For me, it’s just earning the respect that we deserve. We have so many guys that have a lot of talent at an HBCU that doesn’t get enough credit. So, for me to come out here and hold that HBCU title over my head and have a lot of success, it just goes to show that it doesn’t matter where you go, you can play anywhere.”
Leonard further added “I don’t care if you go from a power 5 or an HBCU. But, HBCU guys, we’ve got some dogs man. And we’re gonna continue to come in here with a mindset that we’ve got a point to prove.”
Darius Leonard continues to be one of the best linebackers in the league and was a pivotal part of the Colts defense and has been in his four seasons in the NFL. His impact on the game truly stands with some of the greater players like Walter Payton and Jerry Rice as he continues to pave the way for more young men, proving that they took can play football at the highest level.
Leonard will look to continue this legacy long into his NFL career as he tries to bring the Indianapolis Colts back to the front of the NFL and bring home another Lombardi Trophy.
