Kyle Kuzma has been with the Los Angeles Lakers since 2017

Recently Kyle Kuzma signed his contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. Given that both Anthony Davis and Lebron James had also re-signed their contracts for a whopping $190 Million and $125 Million, Kyle Kuzma also played it smart. The latter ensured that his contract extension was aligned to these 2 marquee players. So, he did not sign a one-year deal. But a 3-year deal with the defending champions, Los Angeles Lakers.

Kyle Kuzma has been exceptional form in the pre-season. With Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee leaving the franchise, this could be Kuzma’s year of revival. The LA Lakers are surely stronger than the previous season, at least on paper.

Kuzma also approached his negotiations keeping in mind how Anthony Davis and Lebron James approached theirs. The former played it smart by making it a longer term.

Remember when Kyle helped the Lakers win those seeding games in the Orlando Bubble by playing exceptionally during the clutch? Everyone was quick to assume that he could be the third option for the Lakers. However, coach Frank Vogel had different plans for him and did not use him in the starting line-up.

But now, the strategy is seemingly changing. Kuzma started all four preseason games for the Lakers, all of which they won. Leaving aside their last game against the Suns, Kyle played really well in the other three games. His role is certainly bigger now, and that could help his career shape as well as relieve the dynamic duo of some burden.

As Lakers are all set to play their city rivals LA Clippers tomorrow in the first encounter of the season. What are your thoughts on Kuzma’s contract extension?
