CM Punk crushed Drew McIntyre‘s dream of winning the world championship in front of his hometown fans. Fans present in the arena expressed their disappointment at seeing him lose again, this time in his own country. Therefore, it wasn’t surprising to see that The Scottish Warrior was furious and frustrated after losing the match due to interference.
Drew McIntyre challenged Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle PLE. Although the match was hanging in the balance, CM Punk soon disguised himself as a referee, distracted him, and attacked him. Enraged by what transpired in the main event of the show, McIntyre and British commentator Wade Barrett walked back to Gorilla, irate with what happened.
Not only that, but The Scottish Warrior also laid his hands on Corey Graves and the referee, who was absent when Drew was about to win. CM Punk shocked the WWE Universe when he came out as a referee. He counted to two before the former world champion realized something was wrong. That was all Damian Priest needed, as he retained the title after hitting the South of Heaven.
Barrett took to social media, expressed his disgust over the finish of the match, and demanded that WWE fire The Best in the World. The upcoming episode of Raw will be a must-watch, as McIntyre will not tolerate any explanations or games. However, Punk won’t be there, as he announced in the press conference that he would skip the taping to receive medical clearance in Chicago.
Triple H expressed his opinion on the match finish between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest
Triple H entered the press conference after the Clash at the Castle PLE was over. He soon expressed his opinion about the obvious issue—that Punk was costing The Scottish Warrior another title shot in his home country. However, he didn’t respond as the WWE Universe might have expected.
When Hunter was asked if The Best in the World truly screwed McIntyre, he answered positively, celebrating the fact that he had come back with a new attitude. He stated that a lot of things had changed in the new era. The 14-time world champion shared that he was really happy to have “Phil Brooks” back.
There is a change, and there is a new era, a new atmosphere, all those things. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have him back. I cannot tell you how exciting it is for me to see the Phil Brooks that I wanted to see then.Triple H in the press conference
Looking at the situation, it won’t be a surprise if McIntyre gets even more frustrated. The entire WWE Universe believed that he would finally achieve his dream moment of winning in front of his fans. However, an arch-rival came in his way once again to shatter his dreams. It will be interesting to see how the dynamics in the main event scene change after the event.
