The latest episode of SmackDown ended with AJ Styles faking his retirement. After a highly emotional promo, the former WWE Champion called out Cody Rhodes to the ring. He blindsided the WWE Undisputed Champion, attacked him, and laid him out with a Styles Clash from the top of the steel steps to the canvas.

After the latest episode of SmackDown went off the air, Styles started walking backstage alongside his long-time friends, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. He taunted Nick Aldis on his way back as the crowd continued to chant his name. The 46-year-old had a change of heart as he reached the titantron and ran back to the ring.

AJ Styles dashed towards the lifeless Cody Rhodes and started raining down punches on the former AEW EVP. WWE officials and Corey Graves looked visibly mad at The Phenomenal One and screamed at him to walk away.

The OC exited the scene as Rhodes continued to be checked on by WWE officials. The American Nightmare was unable to walk on his own. He was then carried backstage by Aldis. After this fake retirement, the two are expected to square up in the ring once again, perhaps at Clash at the Castle.

Will Ospreay reveals how he felt when AJ Styles asked him to join WWE

Will Ospreay was on the lookout for his next promotion after becoming a free agent last year. The former NJPW star was infamously contacted by AJ Styles, who asked him to come to WWE. Speaking with Adrian Hernandez, the Aerial Assassin revealed how it felt to get that call from Mr. TNA.

The former IWGP Champion said that Styles was the main guy who reached out to him from WWE to convince him. The 31-year-old claimed that the former TNA champion was his hero. It was incredible how he carried himself in his stints through Ring of Honor, New Japan, and TNA.
