Following a hard spill during Thursday’s game versus the Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry left the game and did not come back. Just before two defensive players closed in on him, Curry launched an attack on the rim and dished a pass to the rim. The two-time MVP immediately clutched at his lower back after collapsing hard to the ground.

Trainers raced to his side after he writhed for a few moments, grimacing in pain. He was assisted in getting to his feet and headed directly for the changing room. With Steph Curry, Jonathan Kuminga, and Brandin Podziemski all available, the team was at last healthy after weeks of waiting. Regretfully, it was short-lived.

As per Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Curry was out for the game, suffering a Pelvic contusion. The Warriors’ official X account also confirmed the information via an official post. The injury follows Warriors head coach Steve Kerr‘s announcement earlier in the week that he had given Curry a night off because of mental fatigue.

Before the injury, Curry scored 17 points against the Raptors on 6 of 8 shots. This season, he is scoring 24.3 points on average even though Curry had a persistent back ailment. Also, one would assume that the Warriors would be extremely careful given this new pelvic contusion.

For the Golden State Warriors, who are just one game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves and LA Clippers for the sixth spot, the timing couldn’t be worse. They are aiming for an NBA Playoff spot, but Curry’s recent injury raises their qualification concerns going into the end of the regular season.

Steve Kerr provided an important Stephen Curry injury update

After the Warriors-Raptors game ended, the DubNation was all waiting for the Stephen Curry injury update. Given that, reporters wasted no time in putting forward their questions toward Warriors HC Steve Kerr. The latter obliged and responded to the Curry injury questions. Kerr stated that Curry is getting an MRI on his pelvic/tailbone injury.

He’s gonna get an MRI in the Pelivc tailbone area. He was trying to come back, he thought he could come back but we just decided not to.

Steve Kerr told the media

With Curry having to go through an MRI, it is likely the Warriors star would miss a game or two. This puts a load of pressure on the likes of Jonathan Kuminga, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green. Thankfully, the team’s upcoming games against the Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans, and San Antonio Spurs are expected to go in their favor.

Stephen Curry has been dealing with a back ailment for the past few weeks

Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors has been battling through a back issue for the past week.
Although it hasn’t been too severe, Curry had to rest for Tuesday’s back-to-back game against the Milwaukee Bucks because of the injury. Before his game against the Sacramento Kings, the Warriors star also discussed this.

It’s something I’ve dealt with a couple of years ago, but it was just a weird thing that popped up, and it was more just managing it.

Stephen Curry told the reporters

Curry appears to be battling both back problems and exhaustion. With enough rest, maybe, the problem can be fixed without causing any major delays. However, his recent injury during the Raptors game has raised concerns going into the NBA Playoffs. It remains to be seen when the Warriors superstar returns to the court after the set back.
