What is going wrong for Luka Doncic led Dallas Mavericks?

The Dallas Mavericks faced another crunching defeat via the hands of Chris Paul led Phoenix Suns. After that loss, Mavericks have now strung a tally of 5 losses in a row. Chris Paul did not only score 27 points, but pointed out the most vulnerable aspects of the Mavericks in the 2020-21 season. ‘Their 4th quarter!’ The 10-Time All Star scored 16 of his 27 points in the 4th quarter to snatch the game away from Dallas Mavericks. With 2 players getting major double-double scores, Suns seemed obvious to win past Mavericks.
The Dallas Mavericks have often given up on their games in the 4th quarter, where their oppositions have been most ruthless. Phoenix trailed by 15 points with 6 minutes to play and they won over the Mavs by 6 points. This clearly shows you their defensive vulnerabilities in the last quarter. This 5-match losing streak is the longest for the Mavs after March 2019, wherein they lost 7 consecutive games.
Dallas Mavericks wasting Luka Doncic’s efforts
Luka Doncic was yet again terrific in this game against the Phoenix Suns as he scored 29 points. 18 of his 29 points came in the 3rd quarter of the game. However, Doncic seemed to be pissed off at his team in the postgame interview after Utah Jazz defeat. But had much contrary views after this loss as he stated that the team played ‘way way way better.’
The game slipped away from Dallas. After Doncic’s huge third quarter, he sat for the first 5 1/2 minutes of the fourth and did not score again until there were 58 seconds left. By then, Phoenix had established a lead that the Mavericks could only slice into as they dropped to 8-12 at the 20-game mark.
