Enchantments are magical properties that can be applied to a variety of items, weapons and armors. It has the feature of making it stronger or even give the item additional effects that it originally might not have. However, mirroring the good enchantments, there are curses that are ominous status effects and can be quite hard to deal with.

The Curse of Vanishing in Minecraft is a enchantment or a curse, that has the peculiar effect of making the dropped items when dying, completely vanish.

This is a Curse and players must be careful not to have them upon their best gear. Dying and then losing the best item forever is quite a waste for the players and they should definitely watch out for it.

How to get the Curse of Vanishing in Minecraft?

Players can find this only from Chest loot, fishing or trading with Librarian Villagers. They are a curse enchantment and do not appear on the Enchanting Table enchantment pages.

Instead of a Book, players may find an item already enchanted with the Curse of Vanishing in Minecraft.

The Item enchanted with the Curse of Vanishing will simply vanish without a trace from the current World, when they are dropped by the players upon death. Players have no way of getting this item back.

However, if a player manually drops the item from their hand, it will not vanish and players can pick it up and use it again.

Unlike other Enchantments, curses in Minecraft cannot be removed manually by the players using the Grindstone or crafting table. The only item which can remove this is the Pumpkin or a mob head, which can be done by placing and breaking and picking it up again.

This curse ha the most amount of items in the game that it can affect, from Compasses to Elytras.
