Reigning Roland Garros champion Alexander Zverev will finally be seen in action at the Halle Open. Zverev withdrew from the Stuttgart Open after reaching the French Open final. He was the finalist in Stuttgart last year, losing the match to Taylor Fritz. The American ace will also be competing in Halle after Stuttgart.

Apart from Fritz and Zverev, the other seeded players are: Felix Auger-Aliassime, Ben Shelton, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli, Alexander Bublik, and Andrey Rublev. Bublik is the defending champion. He defeated Daniil Medvedev last year. Zverev could meet Joao Fonseca in the second round. The Brazilian ace will be starting his campaign against Yannick Hanfmann.

It was Cobolli whom Zverev defeated in the French Open final. Like Zverev, the Italian ace also withdrew from the Stuttgart Open and will start his campaign on grass in Halle. Zverev has played three finals on the surface but has never won a title. Cobolli, the winner of one hardcourt and two clay-court titles, has never played in a grass-court final.

Auger-Aliassime lost two finals on grass, while Shelton has never played a final on the surface. Medvedev has featured in four title matches and won one (2021 Mallorca Open). But Fritz has made five finals and won them all, including four wins at the Eastbourne International. Bublik has won two titles from four championship clashes, while Rublev has played two finals and lost them.

Nick Kyrgios will also be competing. He made his comeback at the Stuttgart Open and registered a match win in singles for the first time since March 2025. The 2022 Wimbledon finalist will be entering the tournament as a wild card. Apart from Kyrgios, Daniel Altmaier and Max Schonhaus will also be playing as wild card entrants.

The players in the first round will not get any points, while those in the second round will get 50 points.

World No.1 Jannik Sinner withdrew from the Halle Open to manage his schedule. Since the Indian Wells Open, he played non-stop tennis until his shock exit at the French Open, as cramps saw him lose to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round.

Roger Federer holds the record for most Halle Open wins. He lifted 10 titles, the last one being in 2019 at the age of 37 (oldest champion). The 20-time Grand Slam champion also holds the record for most match wins (69).

After all of these warm-up events, the tennis world will shift its focus toward the biggest grass-court event of the season, the Wimbledon Championships. Carlos Alcaraz, who played in the final here in the previous three seasons, won’t be playing this year because of a wrist injury.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion beat Novak Djokovic in 2023 and 2024, but last year, Sinner beat him in the final. Djokovic, like Sinner, won’t be competing in a warm-up tournament before Wimbledon.
