UFC Middleweight Nick Maximov just made it to the co-main event of a Fight Night card in his third UFC fight and the Nick Diaz protege couldn’t go any better when he stayed undefeated in his last fight as well against knock out artist and another upcoming contender prospect Punhale Soriano at UFC Vegas 47. Maximov so far is 8-0 in his overall MMA career with a 100% finish rate in pre-UFC career.

Maximov, who trains at the Nick Diaz Academy, made his UFC debut by earning a contract at Dana White’s Contender Series in November 2020 when he put on a unanimous decision victory against Oscar Corta. Adding to that, so far, Maximov is 3-0 in the UFC. In an attempt to notice the star before it shines completely, Maximov is already getting interviewed outside of the Octagon as well.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Maximov starts off by talking about his fight with Soriano. Though a split decision victory, Maximov thinks he won all 3 rounds fair and square and now aims for getting a much better spot in competition and fight card. “It’s my second UFC fight, I’m fighting all these top prospects with zero either zero losses or one loss, I’m like ‘Why am I fighting hard guys’, no one else is doing that, not Paddy Pimblett, not Sean O’Malley, no one’s doing that, I’m the only one doing this.”

Maximov believes that the UFC is “to the wolves,” and in some time we’re talking about the “Borz” himself, Khamzat Chimaev. “Why are people scared? He hasn’t shown anything to be scared about, cause he hasn’t fought any wrestlers, says Maximov talking of Chimaev “He’s a wrestler that hasn’t fought any wrestlers. So, I’m like, ‘what the f**k, fight me then!‘”

As for his future, Maximov has the confidence in taking out anybody in the top 5 of the UFC middleweight rankings, including the champion Israel Adesanya as well. What did you make of Maximov’s performance against Soriano? Who do you think is next for the Nick Diaz Academy protege? Where do you see him by 2023? Finally, how do you think Maximov will square off against Khamzat Chimaev?
