The 2024-25 NBA season is up and running, with teams battling each other for the coveted title. This season, many changes have been made, from the new All-Star weekend matchup format to the NBA Cup.

However, one thing that has remained constant is the poor refereeing in the league, with some players taking advantage of it. Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox believes the same.

Since most NBA players aim to get as many foul calls as possible, complaining has become a part of the game. When asked which NBA players were the top complainers, Fox named Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic.

Luka’s (Doncic) up there. Like Draymond(Green) will clothesline you and look at the ref like, ‘What I do?’ I think a lot of guys definitely have it. Sometimes it’s warranted… Reffing is God awful at times, I never want to be like they shouldn’t get it because a lot of times, they should.

De’Aaron Fox said

Green was suspended twice last season for unruly behavior on the court. This season, he hasn’t yet had any contentious incidents with officials.

As for the Kings star, this season, Fox averages 27.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. He is also attempting 6.8 free throws per contest. Given his cutting style of play and strong finishes at the rim, he could benefit by arguing and applying pressure to the refs himself.

Draymond Green once paid his ‘respects’ to Kings star De’Aaron Fox

In the 2022-23 NBA season, the Sacramento Kings played against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Playoffs. Going into the game, the Warriors were tipped to win the series easily.

However, they came across one of the talented players on the Kings’ roster: De’Aaron Fox. During the first-round playoff series, Fox appeared to be the best player on the court at times, which Draymond Green acknowledged.

I just paid my respect. I’ve been in a lot of playoff series against a lot of different guys. I’ve lost a lot of respect for guys over the years in the playoffs. And then there’s some you gain respect for. There’s some you see and you know they’re cut from that same cloth you feel like you’re cut from and Fox is one of those guys.

Draymond Green told the reporters

With two 38-point efforts, Fox demonstrated why he was named the NBA’s new Clutch Player of the Year (2023). Fox averaged 27.4 points on 42.4% shooting from the field, 7.7 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 38.5 minutes per game while leading the Warriors to a seven-game series.
