“What’s important to write is that Novak is a hypocrite,” Djokovic lashes out at the political games played behind the scenes

Novak Djokovic clarified about his intentions on joining back the ATP Players council last nigh. He said that him, alongside Vasek Pospisil were nominated back to join the ATP Council by the players themselves. However, the Serbian was left in shock, after the new ATP rule, states that one cannot be a member of any other tennis organization alongside the ATP Players council.
The new rule means that, Novak Djokovic, co-founder of the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), will have to give up his membership in PTPA to be a part of the ATP Player’s council. The Serbian lashed out at the political games played behind the scenes, and clarified that there was no communication on this subject by the ATP.
“The rule was voted on last night, which basically doesn’t allow any active player to be part of the council and any other organization in the tennis ecosystem, which is disappointing to be honest, because I have not been approached by anybody from ATP on that matter,” said the Serbian.
It is hard to expect that tennis and tennis politics do not get interwined here: Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic said that it was not a shock for him to see ATP change the rules regarding single membership. He said he had been involved in tennis and politics for a long time, to witness the politics that goes on behind the tennis scenes. “These are political games that take place behind the scenes and you barely see anything written about it. What’s important to write is that Novak is a hypocrite,” the Serbian on the new rule.
“It is hard to expect that tennis and tennis politics do not get intertwined here, especially with me since I have been heavily involved with the Council and politics in the last ten years,“ the Serbian continued his rant. Novak Djokovic said that he formed the ATP to look after the player needs which often gets ignored. The Serbian said that majority of people do not understand the reason why he is diverting his attention away from the court.
“Although the majority of my team and people close to me do not understand why I waste so much energy on something that probably diverts my focus and attention from things that matter more, I still believe my involvement serves a greater good, serves the players,” Djokovic said.
“If fellow players want me to represent them, I feel responsibility and obligation to do so as someone who has been a top player for many years. All these years I have tried to be available and to act proactively giving my ideas and suggestions,” Djokovic on why he co-founded the PTPA.
