Who is Sim Bhullar?: Know all about the 7’5″ GIANT who bullied Dwight Howard in Taiwan

Sim Bullar

Sim Bhullar was born 2 December 1992, to Varinder Bhullar and Avtar Bhullar. He was born and brought to Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Bhullar became the first Indian-origin player to sign with an NBA team in 2014. The 7’5” Bhullar gets his height from his father who is also 6ft 4in.

Bhullar made his D-League debut against the Los Angeles D-Fenders, with four points, eight rebounds and six blocks. Bhullar’s per-minute career performance was better than any Canadian ever in terms of three of the most common advanced basketball metrics, i.e. box score plus-minus, win shares per 48 minutes and player efficiency rating. Right now, he’s balling out in the Taiwanese League. He was the first player of Indian descent to sign with an NBA team in 2014 when he signed a contract with Sacramento Kings.

When asked about his matchup against the former NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Sim said he was never concerned about playing against the NBA star. “It doesn’t matter to me. It’s more for the fans to get to see him play. For me, I really don’t care who I play against,” Bhullar said. “It is what it is, which is basketball. I never back down from anybody on the court. It’s just another matchup for me.

Tainan TSG GhostHawks finally defeated Howard-led Taoyuan Leopards by 87-78. Howard scored game-high 21 points and had 13 rebounds for his team. However, he had a poor shooting night as he made only 8 of 20 shots from the field and 1 of 7 shots from beyond the arc.
