This week on Raw, Gunther punched his ticket to the King of the Ring finals. The Ring General dominated Jey Uso and made him tap out in a hard-hitting semifinal bout. Having said that, he will watch on as his opponent for the King and Queen of the Ring PLE is decided on SmackDown. Randy Orton will take on The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga in the other semifinal match.
As evident by the way the former NJPW star has qualified for the third round, Orton will have to be wary of the faction’s threat. Tonga eclipsed Angelo Dawkins and LA Knight, respectively. Both wins came with the aid of Bloodline interference. Meanwhile, The Viper earned hard-fought wins in consecutive main events against AJ Styles and Carmelo Hayes.
WWE won’t likely be heading into a heel-versus-heel battle for the finals. In addition to that, a possible bout between Gunther and Randy Orton has crossed the minds of many fans as a dream match. Therefore, the Apex Predator is the odds on favorite to win the match. As for The Bloodline factor, the legend will likely call for help in the form of his friend, Kevin Owens.
The Prizefighter has been absent from WWE television since Backlash France. Tama Tonga and Solo Sikoa defeated Owens and Orton in a thrilling Street Fight at the event. Needless to say, fans will have to wait and see how things play out in the tournament on tomorrow’s episode of SmackDown.
Gunther’s win over Jey Uso prevented a possibly Bloodline King of the Ring final
Ahead of the King of the Ring semifinal on Raw, there was a lot of buzz surrounding the bout. Despite Jey Uso’s growing popularity, some fans were critical of his limited in-ring moveset. However, there was interest in the possibility of the YEET Master squaring off against The Bloodline.
More specifically, against one of the faction’s newest members, Tama Tonga. The latter debuted on WWE television by not only joining the faction but also helping Solo Sikoa attack and kick out Jimmy Uso. Therefore, a win for “Main Event” Jey might’ve provided him with an opportunity to avenge his brother, who’s currently out of action.
At Backlash, the new look Bloodline confronted the former Tag Team Champion backstage as the latter was preparing for his match. Obviously, this intense segment hints at Jey coming back into the saga in the future. However, after this Monday’s result, fans will have to wait a little longer for the 38-year-old star to return to his family.
